Allergy & Dietary Restrictions
Under the National School Lunch Program and USDA guidelines, Warsaw Community Schools Schools are required to provide reasonable meal modifications, at no extra charge, to students who have a food allergy, medical need, disability or impairment which restricts their diet. A medical statement signed by a health care provider with prescriptive authority will be required if the meal accommodation requests are not able to be met with the regularly planned menu items (i.e. gluten free diet). If a student has a lactose allergy and requires a milk substitute (soy milk substitutions only), we will accept a written parent request for this substitution.
We work closely with our Registered School Nurses to provide excellent care for all students with allergies, special diets, and intolerances.
Please fill out and submit the form below for any dietary modification requests that can be addressed with the food service staff. Completed Special Dietary Needs forms can be sent to the students’ school cafeteria manager or emailed to the Director of Food & Nutrition Services at firstname.lastname@example.org
Any diet based on religious or lifestyle preferences is not considered a “special diet” since they are not based on medical condition. Warsaw Community Schools recognizes there are students in attendance with various lifestyles and religious beliefs. However, Warsaw Community Schools does not provide menu items or monitor students based solely on the lifestyle or religious belief. In order to help students and families make choices that are appropriate for them, each school menu located on our website identifies nutritional information. Monthly menus will be available at www.wcsfoodandnutrition.org
